Buyer Beware

In this economy today contractors are dabbling in fields that they are not trained in. they are not trying to scam anyone they are just working in fields that they are not experts in and may not be doing the best job for you. I recently was speaking to a client "John" someone who just had there attic insulated by a roofer. He was having some roof repairs done and mentioned about needed his attic insulated. The roofer told him that they could do that for him also. (sure the roofer knows how to insulate but just insulating is not making Johns house more energy effiecient). In speaking to John about the work he had done I found that what he had done was a good start but he was missing something. I asked if they put an attic hatch cover where the opening to his attic is? Remember why we are doing this; to stop the loss of energy. If you insulate the attic and not cover the hatch you are still letting a lot of heat out of your home. Little things like this can save you money in the end.
